On
March 18, 1950, The Farmington
Daily-Times reported unidentified
flying objects over their small
town in northwestern
New Mexico. The number
varied from a half dozen to
several hundred, but the
descriptions were all the same:
saucer-shaped objects flying in
formation at unbelievable speeds
and altitudes, performing
impossible aerial maneuvers.
In
2001, Charles Pike, a resident of
next-door Aztec, NM, found the original
newspaper article and decided
to use it as the foundation for a
theater piece. He asked
several writer friends around the
country to read the article, then
write a monologue or short scene
inspired by it. He gave no
other instructions. The
writers could write anything they
wanted, as long as the article
served as the inspiration.

Half
of this small town sees something
in the sky... something they can't
explain... something which
terrifies them....
UNIDENTIFIED

(and
those of a nearby planet, as
well).
